FormSpring experienced an outage this morning from approximately 7:48 AM to 8:05 AM EST. We experienced no data loss. Our load balancers went down, cutting off traffic, so forms could not be built, viewed or submitted. As of 8:05 AM EST all forms are back up and operating normally.

One question I often hear is, “How do I insert my tracking code, such as Google Analytics, into my form?” I did a blog post last year telling you how to embed basically anything into a form using a Section, but now we have Description Area fields as well, which can be even more useful for embedding things like videos, widgets, tracking codes, etc.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition is the popular ABC television show that takes on the monumental task of building a home for a family in need. They are coming back to Central Indiana and Hallmark Homes has been chosen as the home builder for the project. FormSpring has been asked to participate in this great event by donating our application to Hallmark Homes and providing an easy way to allow people to volunteer, donate and to be spectators during the filming of the show.

We’ve been getting quite a few requests recently for international translations of our error messages, buttons, and other places where text is used but can’t be edited by the form owner. We are happy to announce that the wait is over, and you can now translate this text into 12 different languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Swedish, and Portuguese. We may add additional languages in the future if the demand is there.

While we allow pre-population of form fields, using the JavaScript embed method while pre-populating fields is a bit inflexible by default. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could pre-populate fields in an embedded form via the query string (mimicking the behavior of non-embedded forms)? This has been a popular request recently, so I have written a simple, custom “JavaScript Embed” method that does just that:
