Meet Us at SXSW at the SXSBW Happy Hour

This is our first time heading down to SXSW and we couldn’t be more excited. Not only are we going to get to attend some great sessions at the Interactive portion of SXSW, we are also going to be hosting a great party with some of the most awesome web companies in our space.

We have written about The Small Business Web before, but for a quick refresh, The Small Business Web is a collection of web companies who are dedicated to helping small businesses grow by providing great products, great customer service, and most importantly, integration across web applications through the use of open API’s.

We spent time brainstorming ways that we could connect with many of the small businesses who will be attending SXSW and after much discussion we decided to throw you all a great big party! Why not celebrate our customers and get a chance to meet you face to face in a fun environment? If you are attending SXSW and want to meet us or some of the other awesome web companies (many of our third party integration partners will be attending) simply RSVP for the event here.

Here are the particulars:

When: Saturday March 13th 4-7 PM

Where: Pure Volume House, 504 Trinity

I’m very excited to dive into my new role as Marketing Specialist at FormSpring. I was first introduced to FormSpring by my brother, Ryan, who is the Support Specialist here. Having grown up the youngest of three boys and taking my fair share of lumps, I was somewhat apprehensive about working with my older brother. However, I’m happy to report that I read through the employee handbook and swirlies and pink bellies are a big “no-no” here at FormSpring. I just hope that Ryan read his handbook as well.

I was born and raised in Kokomo, Indiana – “The City of Firsts” – or more affectionately known as “Stoplight City”. Not venturing too far from home, I attended Purdue University where I received my BA in Visual Communications Design. I worked my way down to Indianapolis in 2005 where I’ve spent my career as a designer and developing, testing and analyzing marketing programs. I’ll actually be taking on a bit of both roles here at FormSpring. When not in the office, you can find me cheering on the Colts and Boilermakers, enjoying the outdoors and training for 5K’s and half marathons.Recent Posts:

Hi. I’m Erica, one of the newest members (and yes, only female) to join the team here at FormSpring. You can find me fulfilling various marketing and PR roles. I grew up in a tiny town known as Rushville, Indiana (Yes, THE hometown of Nascar driver Tony Stewart). I graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a degree in Marketing. Before joining the FormSpring team I worked in marketing for a local HVAC manufacturing company and a small business marketing firm.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition and FormSpring

Extreme Makeover Home Edition is the popular ABC television show that takes on the monumental task of building a home for a family in need. They are coming back to Central Indiana and Hallmark Homes has been chosen as the home builder for the project. FormSpring has been asked to participate in this great event by donating our application to Hallmark Homes and providing an easy way to allow people to volunteer, donate and to be spectators during the filming of the show.

The Twall of Fame

We have been looking at our semi-white walls for a long time wondering how exactly we could decorate them and still give this place some personality. We caught some inspiration after reading a post on the FreshThinking blog on how FreshBooks decorated their offices for cheap.

We created our own “Twall of Fame” by taking screen grabs of all the great twitter feedback we have received and put them in some inexpensive mats to give them a clean look.

Not only is this an inexpensive way to decorate but it’s a great reminder of how great our customers are and keeps us pushing forward to keep building the best online form app that we can!

We will be tweeting some of the comments we have received, so follow us on Twitter and let us know what you think – who knows, you could be the next addition to the Twall of Fame.

Integrating the Web – Future of SaaS

As many of you know we have spent the better part of our summer integrating FormSpring with other popular web applications. These integrations empower organizations to use data they collect via FormSpring web forms with other web applications that can help them run their business.

Why does this help our customers? Now they won’t have to manually import data collected from their web forms into their Email Service Provider. They can now seamlessly pass information into their billing system and import customer leads directly into their CRM system. They can take in a customer inquiry or request directly from their blog and easily integrate payment providers with their online forms. At last, freedom from the tyranny of disconnected systems that refuse to work with other applications.

SaaS applications, when integrated, are reshaping the way organizations operate, giving us powerful applications that work together without us developing, hosting or managing anything. Most organizations – small businesses, educational institutions, churches, governments and non-profits – want to focus on their customers and not on spending time and money learning how to program or cobble together disparate apps.

But until lately, most applications have not been made to work together and sharing data from one app to the next has required specialized programming or exporting from one app and importing into another. That is changing now.

It used to be that SaaS apps were judged on the richness of their features. That’s still important. But we think excellence in SaaS applications will be decided in the future by how integrated an app is with the rest of the world. How easy is it for someone to not only use your app but actually use the data generated by your app.

In fact there is a community of like-minded web software providers called The Small Business Web that are dedicated to improving how businesses use online software by integrating applications through the use of API’s. FormSpring is proud to be part of The Small Business Web and is dedicated to helping grow this philosophy.
